Volunteering

Earnscleugh Tailings Volunteer Days.
Three volunteer sessions Jan - March 2025

CWG and a volunteers cleared an historic gold mine site.

We help organise and host volunteer days around infested sites around Central Otago.

It is such a rewarding experience to get out there among the tussock high country with saws and loppers whilst ridding the vista from bright green pesky self-seeded pines.

It’s quite addictive once you start.

If you’d be interested in rolling up the sleeves and joining in, sign up to our mailing list.

We’ll notify you when there’s a volunteer day coming up.

What to expect

Controlling pines on the ground is not for the faint hearted.

There is a lot of walk on unstable terrain.

A good level of fitness is required and weetbix to lop / saw those larger pines.

Thanks for submitting!

Have you got everything?

Here’s a handy equipment list to pack if you're out volunteering for the day:

& sunscreen

Sturdy footwear (hiking boots)
